Vodafone to cut hundreds of UK jobs - report

LONDON Feb 23 (Reuters) - Britain's Vodafone Group Plc (VOD.L), the world's largest mobile phone group by revenue, is to cut hundreds of jobs in Britain, Sky News reported on Monday.

The move to cut jobs could be made as early as Tuesday, Sky said.

Vodafone, which employs 10,000 people, has previously said it will boost free cash flow by cutting 1 billion pounds ($1.45 billion) of costs. It declined to comment on specific job cuts.

Vodafone were up 1.6 percent at 127.5 pence at 1456 GMT, in line with a 1.7 percent rise in the European sector .SXKP. (Reporting by Lorraine Turner, editing by Dan Lalor) ($1 = 0.6887 pound)
