Obama names Genachowski as FCC chairman -W.House

WASHINGTON, March 3 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama on Tuesday named Julius Genachowski as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, the White House said in a statement.

Genachowski has served previously as chief counsel to the FCC chairman and as special counsel to the FCC general counsel.

"I can think of no one better than Julius Genachowski to serve as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission," Obama said. "He will bring to the job diverse and unparalleled experience in communications and technology, with two decades of accomplishment in the private sector and public service."
