Oriental Trading Company Names Sydney Johnson-Gorrell Chief Talent Officer

OMAHA, Neb.--(Business Wire)--
Oriental Trading Company, Inc., the nation`s largest direct marketer of party
supplies, arts and crafts, toys and novelties, today announced that Sydney
Johnson-Gorrell has joined the company as Senior Vice President and Chief Talent
Officer. In this new role, Johnson-Gorrell will oversee the overall strategic
direction of Human Resources, including Talent Acquisition, Performance and
Development, Benefits, Payroll, Employee Relations and Corporate Communications.


Previously Johnson-Gorrell served as Vice President of Human Resources for
Brooks Sports, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway company in Bothell, Washington, where
she held responsibility for all Human Resources functions, including employee
relations, communication, talent management, performance management,
compensation, benefits, learning and development, organizational development,
payroll, and facilities. While there, she successfully led Brooks Sports, Inc.
to be named one of the "100 best companies to work for in Washington state,"
developed a Leadership Training program, helped launch a corporate Intranet site
and developed Brooks U, which emphasized learning and development for all
employees. 

Prior to Brooks Sports, Inc., Johnson-Gorrell served as VP of Global Human
Resources for Shurgard Self Storage, a New York Stock Exchange public company
based in Seattle, Washington. The company operated over 650 self-storage
facilities in the U.S. and eight countries in Europe. In this role, she oversaw
all Human Resources functions, developed an in-house 360 degree review process,
launched the company`s first Intranet site, and enhanced the benefits program.
Shurgard merged with Public Storage in 2006. 

Additionally, Johnson-Gorrell served as SVP of Human Resources and
Administration for Wizards of the Coast, a division of Hasbro based in Seattle,
Washington. While there, Johnson-Gorrell oversaw all domestic and international
Human Resources functions, including HR leadership over 100 retail stores and
the distribution center. Ms. Johnson-Gorrell also worked with Oberto Sausage
Company as VP of Human Resources.

Johnson-Gorrell has a Masters of Human Resources Management in Organization
Development from the City University Leadership Program in Seattle, Washington
and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Washington. She will
be relocating to Omaha, Nebraska where Oriental Trading Company is based.
