MADRID (Reuters) - Mitsubishi Corp (8058.T) has bought a 34 percent stake in the solar power unit of Spanish contractor Acciona (ANA.MC), the companies said on Wednesday, giving no financial details of the operation.

Financial daily Nikkei said in its Thursday edition that Mitsubishi expects to pay Acciona "several billion yen."

Mitsubishi took a stake in the Amper Central Solar, which operates the world's largest photovoltaic power plant, Amareleja, in Portugal, with a capacity of 45.8 megawatts.

In the joint statement, the companies said the agreement was the first step for collaborative projects in renewable energy sustainable development.
