Fourteen Year NBA Veteran Will Also Offer Training Scholarships To Low Income
Athletes And Inner City Kids

SEATTLE, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- NBA Star Doug Christie launches Christie
Sports Management/Athlete Training Firm. The firm will offer free scholarships
to low income athletes and inner city kids wanting to learn how to play
basketball. The firm will also sign promising athletes to enter the NBA.
Christie Sports Management/Athlete Training Firm, which encompasses player
development and mentoring, will be based in Seattle Washington, with offices
in Los Angeles and Sacramento California.

"Being in the NBA for as long as I have been allows me to know the inner
workings of professional as well as non professional basketball, as well as be
able to prepare future and current NBA players to have a solid transition into
the world's top basketball destination," said Christie. "I built my company on
the need to give back, and to share the knowledge and experience I have with
all of the athletes enrolled in my firm."

Christie will be inducted into the West Coast Conference's 2009 Hall of Honor
as one of the six all time greatest athletes, along with two top coaches, from
the West Coast Conference (WCC). Other inductees include Hank Gathers, Clive
Charles, Tom Meschery, Bernie Bickerstaff, Joe Ellis, and Carroll Williams.
Christie and the other honored guests will be formally inducted at the 2009
WCC Hall of Honor Brunch on Saturday, March 7th at the Orleans Arena and
honored the next day during halftime of the first men's basketball semifinal
game on March 8th. Christie is being honored for his outstanding athletic
achievements across the WCC's eight respective institutions. In 1991-1992 the
6'6" shooting guard was given the title of All-American and conference MVP
from Pepperdine University. Christie was also a member of the All-WCC First
Team, as he led Pepperdine University in scoring, assists, and steals. He was
selected 17th overall in the 1992 NBA Draft by the Seattle Supersonics.
Christie went on to play with NBA teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, New
York Knicks, Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, Orlando Magic, Dallas
Mavericks, and Los Angeles Clippers. During his seasons with the Sacramento
Kings (2000-2005) Christie became one of the league's best defenders and was
named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team consecutively, as well as being
named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team, and he was also recognized as one
of the league's best 3-point shooters.
