Historic Theater to be Named the Saban Theatre in Honor of Donation
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
The Beverly Hills Performing Arts Center ("BHPAC") today announced that it has
received a lead donation of $5 million from philanthropists Cheryl and Haim
Saban for the continuing restoration of the Wilshire Theatre Beverly Hills`s
orchestra and proscenium and to refurbish the building`s marquee. In honor of
the gift, the theater will be renamed the Saban Theatre.

"We would like to thank Cheryl and Haim Saban for their extraordinary
generosity," said BHPAC president Rabbi David Baron. "Their donation and
commitment to our organization will ensure that the historic Wilshire Theatre
Beverly Hills remains a celebrated center for the performing arts in Los
Angeles. This lead gift will move us steadily toward our four goals of
preservation, restoration, modernization and endowment and will encourage others
to give. We are extremely grateful to the Sabans and are honored to rename the
theater in recognition of their support."

The Wilshire Theatre Beverly Hills, a historic Los Angeles landmark, serves the
community as a venue for Broadway performances, films, comedy shows and evenings
with famous authors, along with being home to the Temple of the Arts, the
largest arts and entertainment industry synagogue in the US. The theater
currently houses the Young Musicians Foundation, which is an organization
devoted to the preservation of classical music by providing local teenagers with
performance opportunities, financial assistance and community outreach programs.

"Cheryl and I are thrilled to support the restoration and continued life of such
an important Los Angeles landmark," said Haim Saban, Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer of Saban Capital Group. "This theater is not only an important
centerpiece for the performing arts, but also serves as a home for numerous
charitable undertakings, programs that benefit the community and the Temple of
the Arts, which integrates the arts into religious services. We hope this gift
inspires other donors to recognize the important role this theater plays in the
broader community and support efforts to preserve its continued vitality."

"The Beverly Hills Performing Arts Center helps younger generations build an
appreciation for the arts through access to inspiring performances and arts
education. Our gift underscores our belief in the richness and beauty the arts
bring to all of our lives as well as the important role the Temple of the Arts
plays in the Jewish community. We are delighted that this gift will not only
guarantee the longevity of the theater itself but will also ensure that it
remains at the center of important spiritual and arts based enrichment
programs," said Dr. Cheryl Saban.

The theater is a member of the League of Historic American Theatres and the Los
Angeles Conservancy and has worked to advance the goals of theater preservation
and revitalization. The initial phase of the dramatic proscenium and orchestra
restoration was executed by Evergreene Studios, one of the leading historic
theatre restoration experts in the country. The Saban Theatre marquee is
scheduled to be unveiled during a ceremony in the fall of 2009.
