Mar 17 - Aides to Madagascar president say he has stepped down and handed power to military as opposition leader moves into presidential palace.

Madagascar's President Marc Ravalomanana handed power to a navy admiral on Tuesday after a power struggle with the opposition on the Indian Ocean island, a presidential aide said.

The spokesman added that the President had handed over power to the military ranks being guided by the elder of the highest rank.
