* Says appropriate actions taken, matter under control

* Improper conduct limited to marketing, contracts dept

LONDON, March 24 (Reuters) - Dragon Oil (DGO.I) said on Tuesday the early findings from an investigation into possible irregularities in its procurement procedures had confirmed it will have no material impact on it financial position.

The oil exploration company said on Tuesday it had "taken the appropriate actions and has the matter under control".

Dragon Oil said on Feb 26 it had appointed KPMG to undertake an investigation into improper conduct by certain former senior managers after its internal audit department had identified irregularities.

The company said preliminary findings from the investigation have indicated that improper conduct relating to procurement activities was confined to its marketing and contracts departments.

"Although internal controls were in place, the individuals involved managed to override the various controls in the procurement process through collusion. These individuals appear to have obtained financial benefits for themselves by securing improper payments from certain contractors," it said. (Reporting by Matt Scuffham; Editing by Hans Peters)
