BBP Uses Ingres Database and Red Hat's JBoss Enterprise Solutions to Enable
Secure, Reliable Interbank Connections
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. & SAN FRANCISCO--(Business Wire)--
Ingres Corporation, the leading open source database management company and
pioneer of The New Economics of IT, announced today that Biveroni Batschelet
Partners AG (BBP), an integrated software and solution vendor specializing in
the integration of interbank applications, uses Ingres Database as part of an
in-house Java and open source application stack, which also includes Red Hat`s
JBoss Enterprise Middleware. The stack was developed and deployed by BBP to
provide and secure 24x7 continuous interbank connections. Ingres Database was
chosen for its ability to provide superior security, reliability, and support
and maintenance to enterprises worldwide that rely on immediate access to
business-critical information.

BBP provides business-critical middleware applications for worldwide financial
institutions to simplify and streamline payment processes and control
procedures. Product reliability, unshakable security, and a lower total cost of
ownership are top priorities for the company. These priorities, combined with a
company-wide commitment to long-term, successful collaboration with clients and
partners, have earned BBP an excellent reputation in the banking industry.
Customers come to BBP to reduce the risk and complexity involved when they must
support multiple platforms, procedures, and standards required in a multi-bank
environment.

"Financial institutions place their absolute trust and the success of their
day-to-day business processes directly into our hands," says Amir Housseini, CTO
at BBP. "Given the sensitivity of our application and the underlying data, we
require an application infrastructure that can meet extremely stringent
requirements, especially for security and availability."

Today, BBP`s entire business relies exclusively on Ingres Database, a JBoss
Enterprise Application Platform, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux technology. The
integrated application development stack enables BBP to develop its application
in an environment preferred by their developers, and then to deploy in
production within the same environment. BBP reports its preference for this
solution because of the cost effective open source business model and for the
added value of developing and deploying in a common environment.

"We`ve always relied on open source software components to reduce application
development costs, and Ingres and JBoss are commercially proven, have been
tested and guaranteed to work together," said Housseini. "Furthermore, Ingres
and Red Hat have proven, long-term track records of successful enterprise
deployments - that matters when you`re dealing with business-critical
information that must be guaranteed secure and reliable in every moment."

Additionally, BBP is committed to serving smaller financial institutions that
need extremely cost-effective access to interbank services, with a quick, easy
installation, and without any significant investment in hardware or software.

"BBP is yet another pioneer in using open source technology to manage the
business-critical information found in an industry like financial services -
this is information that must always be secure and they are trusting commercial
open source software with that most important task," said Bertram Mandel,
managing director CEMEA and vice president of sales & services at Ingres. "This
use of technology is also another great example of the incredible cost savings
that companies, and their customers, can experience when they leverage the
capabilities of multiple, integrated open source software solutions."
