Accelerated delivery of replication tools reduces OpEx and provides rapid ROI ROSELAND, NJ--(Business Wire)-- Expand Networks www.expand.com, the leader in optimizing WANs for branch office consolidation and virtualization, today announced Fidelity National Insurance, a nationwide provider of personal insurance products, has deployed Expand Networks WAN Optimization technology. The integrated Expand platform has optimized the performance of the WAN and is accelerating the organization`s business critical applications to guarantee disaster recovery. Fidelity National Insurance is based in Florida with three datacenters and over 100 remote users at four branch offices around the country. The company has an internal MPLS network and relies on two applications for continuous data replication between sites to enable disaster recovery. Using 5MB of bandwidth, the performance of the main replication tool was being severely affected by latency undermining the ability of the company to access, share and protect mission critical data in real time. Fidelity National Insurance evaluated WAN Optimization technology from Expand Networks and other competitive vendors and selected Expand Networks for its ability to compress and accelerate business critical applications over the WAN. "It`s imperative that if a datacenter goes down for any reason, data has been replicated real time at another site. But when even the smallest documents were taking up to 10 minutes to replicate between datacenters, we knew we had to implement WAN Optimization technology as our disaster recovery strategy was at stake," said Adrian Whitehurst, IT Manager, Fidelity National Insurance. "Expand Networks was the only vendor that could cope with the volume of traffic and fully optimize the WAN." Expand`s integrated WAN Optimization technology was deployed and immediately compressed and accelerated all applications, fully optimizing the WAN and mitigating latency to ensure high availability and data protection for Fidelity National Insurance. The organization was able to reduce the bandwidth dedicated to the main real time replication tool from 5MB to 2MB and send 22MB of optimized replication traffic over the smaller link. With network throughput increased by over 1,000%, Expand enabled Fidelity National Insurance to save $5,000 per month and deliver a ROI of less than 3 months. "With Expand in place, data replication takes one second rather than up to 5 minutes previously guaranteeing disaster recovery and high availability," continued Adrian Whitehurst. "Simply deployed, the Expand platform self manages, making life easier and frees up resources. We are now using Expand to optimize a second real time replication application and the technology will also support the company as we migrate all remote users to web based applications." "Organizations are facing critical business challenges in trying to maintain network performance and support IT initiatives in addition to lowering operating costs," said Andrew Mullen, VP of Sales, The Americas, Expand Networks. "Expand Networks` WAN Optimization technology addresses these IT challenges by supporting multiple projects and bringing users into virtual proximity of application and datacenter services while reducing TCO and delivering a rapid ROI."
