COSTA MESA, Calif., March 24, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Emulex Corporation
(NYSE:ELX) today announced that its LightPulse(r) Fibre Channel Host Bus
Adapters (HBAs) and LightPulse Fibre Channel Converged Network Adapters (CNAs)
are supported in the latest SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 release from Novell.
With SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11, end customers deploying Emulex HBAs or
CNAs can now leverage virtual port (VPort) technology, so each virtual machine
(VM) running on a server can independently access its own protected storage.
Additionally, the Emulex LPe12000 family of 8Gb/s HBAs deliver the highest
dual-channel I/O throughput and CPU efficiency, translating into increased
performance and reduced power consumption.
"Emulex is working closely with Novell to provide customers with
enterprise-class connectivity solutions that are optimized for virtualized and
converged networking environments," said Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer
and senior vice president of business development, Emulex. "Emulex HBAs and CNAs
provide SUSE Linux Enterprise Server customers with optimal performance,
simplified management and seamless interoperability."
Emulex HBAs and CNAs support virtual port (VPort) technology, enabling customers
to leverage SAN management tools and best practices at the VM level, including
fabric zoning and LUN mapping/masking. Emulex's LPe12000 family of 8Gb/s HBAs
deliver enterprise scalability and flexibility through support for
Message-Signaled Interrupts eXtended (MSI-X), offering increased system
performance through greater CPU efficiency, reduced system latency and improved
I/O throughput.
"SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 delivers interoperability and mission-critical support
for your complete computing environment -- desktop to data center, physical and
virtual," said Carlos Montero-Luque, vice president of product management,
Novell. "Emulex was instrumental in the delivery of NPIV support in SUSE Linux
Enterprise Server 11 and we continue to work closely to deliver new features,
such as data integrity for our enterprise-class IT customers."
Emulex HBAs and CNAs are managed using HBAnyware(r), a secure, automated and
centralized enterprise management platform that provides a single interface for
the deployment, dynamic provisioning, asset management, connectivity management,
security and quality of service (QoS) of I/O connectivity that is optimized for
virtualized and converged networking environments.
