Staples, Inc. Announces Proposed Public Offering of Senior Notes

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(Business Wire)--
Staples, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLS) announced today the proposed public offering of its
senior notes. The public offering will be made pursuant to an effective shelf
registration statement on file with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The proceeds from the proposed public offering will be used to repay its
outstanding debt related to its commercial paper program, as well as for general
corporate purposes. 

Barclays Capital Inc., Banc of America Securities LLC and HSBC Securities (USA)
Inc. are acting as joint book-running managers.
