Harvard Business Review Article by Johnson, Christensen and Kagermann Achieves
McKinsey Award

Authors Point to How Companies Can Reinvent Their Business Model

WATERTOWN, Mass., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Mark Johnson, co-founder and
chairman of Innosight LLC, an innovation strategy consulting firm, and
co-authors, Clay Christensen, the Robert and Jane Cizik Professor of Business
Administration at Harvard Business School, and Henning Kagermann, co-CEO of
SAP AG, achieved a 2008 McKinsey Award for their article published in the
December 2008 issue of Harvard Business Review entitled "Reinventing Your
Business Model."

"The co-authors and I are honored for our work surrounding business model
innovation (BMI) to be recognized by McKinsey," said Johnson. "In these times
of economic uncertainty, the importance of companies taking a close look at
how their business models work is imperative."

In their award-winning article, Johnson, Christensen and Kagermann describe
how companies can identify when and how to reinvent their business models. The
authors offer ways companies can reinvent their businesses by watching for
signals that models likely need to change - such as tough new competitors on
the horizon - and articulate what makes existing models successful. The
authors also point to how companies can decide whether reinventing their model
is worth the effort - which is only if the new model changes the industry or
the market in their favor.

Johnson, Christensen and Kagermann's article will be recognized at the 50th
Anniversary Celebration of the McKinsey Awards today, March 24th at the
Harvard Club in New York City.

Since 1959, the McKinsey Awards have recognized the best articles published
each year in Harvard Business Review. The awards are judged by an independent
panel of business experts, executives and scholars.

Johnson explores the importance of BMI in his upcoming book, "Seizing the
White Space: Business Model Innovation for Transformative Growth and Renewal"
(HBP, January 2010). "Reinventing Your Business Model" is available online at
