The Germantown non-profit will use the donation from the intellectual property
law firm, Volpe and Koenig, to support its "Discovery Program." The program
helps children from shelters and transitional homes learn life skills through
a wide range of arts programs.

PHILADELPHIA, March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- With corporate and charitable
foundation giving on the decline, non-profits like Germantown's BuildaBridge
face serious financial shortfalls that greatly impinge on their ability to
provide vital services to the city's poorest residents. In an effort to assure
that they continue to help those most in need, Volpe and Koenig, the
Philadelphia intellectual property law firm, is awarding its 2009 Charitable
Giving Fund grants to BuildaBridge and the After School Activities
Partnership.

On Wednesday, March 25, at 4:00 p.m. at BuildaBridge, 413 W. Master Street in
Philadelphia, students who are taking an after school culinary arts class will
join Jay Halt, president of Volpe and Koenig, and Kathleen McLaughlin and Ron
Hevey of BuildaBridge, for the check presentation. The students, who are from
shelters in the area, will be showcasing their skills as they unveil their
original apron designs, which give them a sense of pride and accomplishment.

The Charitable Giving Fund was created by Volpe and Koenig three years ago to
help smaller non-profits that often fall below the radar screens of their
larger counterparts. BuildaBridge was selected for this year's grants because
of their efforts to help young people learn valuable life skills through the
arts. The grant will provide more than 30 underserved children with powerful
and transformational programming at no cost to them. BuildaBridge relies
solely on donations from foundations, corporations and individuals.

In addition, Volpe and Koenig awarded After Schools Activities Partnership
another $20,000 grant to support its "Youth Chess Challenge," where more than
400 students in 69 chess clubs across the city compete for a variety of
championship titles.

Coverage is invited.
