Erikson Institute Appoints Three New Members to Board of Trustees

CHICAGO, March 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Erikson Institute, one of the nation's leading graduate schools in child development, has appointed Martin Cabrera, Jr., Edward S. Loeb, and Joyce A. Walters, to its Board of Trustees. "These are three individuals who not only share our passion for education but have the knowledge and experience to create positive change in the field," said Erikson Institute president Sam Meisels. "They are a dynamic addition to our team." Martin Cabrera, Jr., chief executive officer of Cabrera Capital Markets Cabrera launched Cabrera Capital Markets in 2001 after earning a degree in finance from Northern Illinois University. Since then the Chicago-based investment firm has underwritten more than $35 billion in municipal bond transactions, with clients that include the states of California and Illinois and the cities of Chicago and Houston. The company holds a seat on the Chicago Stock Exchange; its brokerage clients include public and corporate pension funds such as CalPERS, Illinois Teachers Retirement, Nissan, Boeing, and Sprint Corp. His company also donated $50,000 to the Stock Market Game, a program that teaches principles of investing to students in grades 4-12. Edward S. Loeb, partner, Harris Associates Loeb, partner and portfolio manager, joined Harris Associates in 1989. He is a comanager of many of the firm's institutional investment portfolios, and he also comanages several mutual funds offered by Harris' parent, Natixis, including the Harris Associates Large Cap Value Fund. Harris Associates, based in Chicago, manages approximately $38 billion on behalf of individual and institutional clients nationwide. Loeb received his BA from Princeton University and his MBA from Northwestern University and holds the chartered financial analyst designation. Joyce A. Walters, director, Education and Workforce Initiatives, The Boeing Company Walters has overall responsibility for building the company's community investment programs in education. She provides program subject matter expertise, philosophy and strategic direction and interfaces with a network of U.S. and international community investors who act on behalf of The Boeing Company. Walters joined The Boeing Company in 1988 and brings more than 18 years of experience managing business/education partnerships to her work. She has extensive experience in community investing, employee involvement, and public-private partnerships. She also launched the company's charitable investments in early learning in 2001.
