SCHENECTADY, N.Y., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Offering innovative health plans
that emphasize wellness and allow subscribers a choice of benefits based on
lifestyle has produced healthy enrollment growth for MVP Health Care. At the
end of February, MVP reported 743,000 members compared with 700,000 members at
the same time in 2008. Since 2007, the company has experienced a 12-percent
increase in enrollment.

"We experienced growth in all of our products which is a good sign that MVP
Health Care is well-positioned for the future," said David W. Oliker, MVP
president and CEO. "We also had enrollment growth across our entire service
area in New York, Vermont and New Hampshire," he said.

Commercial Products
According to David Henderson, executive vice president and chief marketing
officer, MVP's commercial enrollment growth resulted from innovative products,
with a focus on wellness, and the introduction of new technology to automate
the sales and enrollment process.

According to Henderson, all MVP commercial plans offer core wellness features
at no extra charge. Those features include: care management programs --
guiding members through complex or chronic conditions; online Personal Health
Manager -- powered by WebMD; a 24-hour nurse line; and exclusive discounts on
a wide range of health and wellness products. Many plans including TriVantage
also feature WellStyle Extras that offer up to $600 in credits per subscriber,
per year for fun and fitness activities as well as access to personal
Lifestyle Coaches who can assist with fitness programs, weight loss, and
smoking cessation.

In 2008, MVP introduced new systems that also contributed to enrollment
growth. Developed in partnership with ikaSystems, MVP introduced an online,
fully integrated solution for brokers that automates the entire sales process
from rate quotes through enrollment. Through this system, more than 16,000
new members were enrolled.

"MVP Health Care is now on the leading edge nationally with innovative
products that emphasize wellness and offer choices based on the subscriber's
lifestyle and needs," said Henderson. "These products combined with the
technology we're deploying will move us even farther ahead of the curve," he
said.

Government Programs
Medicare Advantage enrollment in MVP Gold and Preferred Care Gold also
increased. At the end of February, Medicare enrollment was 95,000 members --
an increase of 3,300 members compared to December 2008.

"MVP Gold and Preferred Care Gold are leaders in wellness and prevention.
Medicare-eligible residents responded to the comprehensive benefits and high
value of our Medicare Advantage health plans," said Lisa Brubaker, MVP
executive vice president for government programs. "Preferred Care Gold was,
for the third time in four years, ranked the number one Medicare Advantage
plan in the nation on the U.S. News and World Report/National Committee for
Quality Assurance (NCQA) Best Health Plans in America listing," she said.

Ancillary Products
Enrollment also increased in non-medical products such as dental insurance,
COBRA administration, and flexible spending accounts (Section 125 plans). At
the end of February, enrollment in these products was 46,000 -- an increase of
3,000 over December 2008.
