New Newark Bears Era Begins With Press Conference to Announce Plans for 2009
Season
WHAT: Bases Loaded Group, the new owner of the Newark Bears
Professional Baseball Team, will hold a press conference on
Thursday, April 2nd, 2009 at 10:00 am at Bears & Eagles
Riverfront Stadium to welcome back its fans, its sponsors,
and the community for the 2009 season and to introduce its
"I'm In" campaign. The Team will announce a series of events
for the 2009 season that will celebrate Newark's long
baseball history and the rich cultural attractions and
diversity of the city. Some of the exciting activities,
themed programs, and special events include its annual team
tryouts and tryouts for mascots and national anthem singers
on April 11th, an Opening Day salute to community service on
May 1st, a military day honoring veterans and fallen heroes
on May 2nd, Legends Days at Sunday games, gospel choir days
at Saturday games, a Cinco de Mayo celebration on May 5th,
the All-Star Game on June 23rd, Big Brothers/Big Sisters day
on June 27th, Back-to-School Week on September 1st, and
special celebrity appearances and programs benefiting youth
and the community. The Team will also announce its new
special partnerships with Bill White of the Intrepid Sea,
Air & Space Museum and Mrs. Laura Posada of the Jorge Posada
Foundation.
