LAMPASAS, TX and FORT WORTH, TX, Mar 25 (MARKET WIRE)
--
More than 500 of the nation's top Texas Longhorn cattle breeders and
their prized Texas Longhorns gathered over the weekend in Fort Worth at
the DFW Marriott Hotel & Golf Club @ Champions Circle for the 2009 Texas
Longhorn Legacy Sale V. Held in the Grand Ballroom, over 100 Longhorns
were auctioned in this annual black tie-optional event that raised over
$220,000 for cancer research and youth charities.

The top selling cow was EOT Outback Cherry consigned by Mike and Debbie
Bowman and purchased by Bill and Judy Meridith for $97,000. The average
sales price at this year's event was nearly $15,000.

Produced by the Texas Longhorn Marketing Alliance (TLMA), the Legacy was
broadcast live on RFD-TV. More than 100,000 viewers tuned in to watch the
sale, which was hosted by rodeo commentator and National Cowgirl Hall of
Famer Pam Minnick and co-hosted by Larry Barker of the Autobahn Motorcar
Group Youth Scholarship Tour.

"Attendance was exceedingly strong this year and despite the economic
downturn Texas Longhorn breeders once again demonstrated that they,
themselves, are a breed apart with their generosity," said Wes Chancey,
CEO of the TLMA. "Our goal was to raise at least $100,000 for charitable
causes this year, but we blew that figure away, raising more than double
our goal."

The caliber of Texas Longhorns auctioned at the Legacy Sale combined with
the formal ballroom venue makes it a standout among cattle auctions,
drawing breeders and enthusiasts from throughout the United States.

Over the past five years, the Legacy Sale has now generated more than
$840,000 for cancer research at The University of Texas MD Anderson
Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and the Cancer Research Center at Penn
State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania, as well as
contributing to numerous college scholarships. This year, in addition to
making contributions to cancer research, money was raised for several
children's charities, including the Autobahn Youth Scholarship Tour,
which distributes over $200,000 in scholarship money annually to children
who raise and exhibit Texas Longhorn cattle.

Texas Longhorn breeders gathered Friday, March 20 for an informal banquet
and the fundraising auction. The main auction and additional fundraising
auctions were held Saturday evening in conjunction with a black
tie-optional banquet.
