Saudi militant back from Syria to surrender -source
RIYADH, March 26 (Reuters) - A Saudi militant who helped Islamist fighters get into Iraq has returned from Syria to hand himself in to the Saudi Interior Ministry, a security source said on Thursday.
Many Saudis are among foreigners who went to Iraq after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion to fight foreign forces and the Shi'ite-dominated government.
Al Qaeda's Saudi wing launched a campaign to destabilise the world's largest oil exporter in 2003, but the violence was brought to a halt after a long campaign of arrests.
Fahd al-Ruwaily was on a list of wanted militants outside the country that the Saudi government published last month.
The government said Interpol had been asked to arrest them.
Ruwaily was met by Interior Ministry officers on his return from Syria this week, the source said. The government says Ruwaily facilitated the movement of Saudis into Iraq as well as Afghanistan. (Writing by Andrew Hammond; editing by Samia Nakhoul)
