Graphic novels "Couriers" delivered to screenwriter

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Intrepid Pictures has picked up the movie rights to "The Couriers," a series of action graphic novels, and has hired writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach to adapt.

Written by Brian Wood and illustrated by Rob G, the series follows the adventures of two gun-toting mercenary couriers named Moustafa and Special who take on jobs other couriers will not tackle, involving intelligence, large cash transfers, protection, assassinations and blockade-running.

Three graphic novels have been published so far by AiT/PlanetLar, and the series has been praised for its kinetic art style and action set pieces influenced by Hong Kong movies and Japanese animation.

Grillo-Marxuach was a writer and supervising producer on ABC's "Lost" and is working on NBC's "Medium." His writing credits include "Charmed" and "Boomtown."
