DUBLIN, March 30 (Reuters) - The head of Irish drinks group C&C's (GCC.I) British cider unit has resigned as he saw too little scope for his work under the new executive team brought in from Scottish & Newcastle, C&C said on Monday.

"The appointment of the new management team, headed by John Dunsmore, reduces the opportunities for me to develop my career," said Magners GB Managing Director John Holberry, who had joined C&C a year ago from Coors Brewers Limited (TAP.N).

C&C said earlier this month it would write down assets worth 141 million euros ($189 million) to streamline the business as it struggles to reverse years of declining sales in a deepening recession. ($1=.7460 Euro) (Reporting by Andras Gergely; editing by Simon Jessop)
