SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA, Mar 30 (MARKET WIRE) --
CygNet Software, provider of the leading enterprise operations platform
for the oil and gas industry, today announced that Energy Transfer
Partners, L.P. (NYSE: ETP) has added Houston Pipeline to its list of
assets operating on the CygNet solution. Energy Transfer, which also uses
CygNet for its Transwestern pipeline and Canyon Gas Resources gathering
system, has continued to expand its CygNet deployment because of CygNet's
single, comprehensive platform for collecting, managing, and distributing
the massive amounts of operations SCADA information to users throughout
the organization, enabling more effective decision making.

"The CygNet platform is far easier to manage than our previous system and
will allow us to keep pace with the company's aggressive growth and the
massive amounts of data we need to manage," said Joe Schmid, manager,
SCADA at Energy Transfer. "We now have a single management console for
all three pipelines and the opportunity to use CygNet to continue
improving enterprise-wide business processes through capabilities such as
remote asset management and improved data management."

Energy Transfer's Texas pipelines make up the largest intrastate system in
the U.S. Energy Transfer also has natural gas pipeline operations in
Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Utah. The company has more
than 17,000 miles of pipeline in service, with approximately 750 miles of
pipeline under construction. Two years ago, Schmid was hired by Energy
Transfer to manage and improve the Houston Pipeline SCADA system. He'd
used CygNet for nearly three years with his previous company and was very
impressed with the platform's design and functionality, as well as with
the CygNet engineering team. As a technical adviser for the Transwestern
SCADA transition, Schmid recommended CygNet. He then took the lead in
implementing CygNet for Houston Pipeline. Cutover took place in January
2009.

"The SCADA system for Houston Pipeline dated back to the 1990s and
involved numerous servers, applications, and interfaces for production
and disaster recovery," added Schmid. "The applications came from
different vendors, and some were even written by Enron programmers, so
using and managing the system was cumbersome and very time-consuming. We
completed the Houston Pipeline and Transwestern projects in just 14
months, which is a very aggressive timeframe and we were able to fit
CygNet into our current business processes, so the deployment was not
disruptive."

Other features of the CygNet platform that are important to Schmid include
the high-availability infrastructure for gas control, easy-to-use system
tools, the ability to manage data in bulk, data replication and validation
checks, HMI templating, version management, and the use of standard
protocols and drivers that enable the CygNet system to communicate with
remote field devices from all the major vendors.

"Other benefits that are often not discussed include that CygNet has one
core product, so everything rolls back into the same system," said Schmid.
"Enhancements developed for one customer get incorporated into future
releases, benefiting all customers. This isn't true with other vendors. On
top of that, these benefits are reinforced with CygNet's strong and
talented engineering team."

"CygNet is the oil and gas industry's most advanced platform for providing
a unified information ecosystem," said Chris Smith, chief executive
officer of CygNet Software. "It is also far easier to deploy and use than
other systems. It provides enterprises with the ability to improve the
management of the operational data they produce today, while creating a
clear path to developing a complete system they need to consolidate data
from every corner of the enterprise and provide actionable information to
every person who needs it."
