Telit Radically Advances M2M Landscape With Debut of World's Smallest GSM/GPRS
Cellular Module

Telit's GE865-QUAD M2M Module is Now Available in the U.S.

RALEIGH, N.C., March 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Telit Wireless Solutions, a
global leader in machine-to-machine (M2M) communications and subsidiary of
Telit Communications PLC (AIM: TCM), unveiled today the world's smallest M2M
module and newest addition to their GSM/GPRS product line, the GE865-QUAD.
GE865 samples are immediately available for development.

The GE865 GSM/GPRS module is the latest extension of Telit's GE product
family, boasting an extremely compact form factor and optimized power
consumption while being more flexible than its predecessors. The innovative
module is based on a single-chip solution with a form factor of only 22 x 22 x
3 mm, making it the smallest globally available GSM/GPRS module and nearly
half of the size of Telit's GE864-QUAD.

"Telit has once again set the industry standard in terms of embedded cellular
module size. The GE865-QUAD is revolutionary in that we were able to
significantly decrease the form factor to about the size of a postage stamp,
without sacrificing functionality. In fact, we actually added features,
making it better equipped to address the demands of complex M2M applications,"
said Mike Ueland, Vice-President and General Manager of Telit Wireless
Solutions, North America. "We believe the small form factor will allow M2M
application developers to dream up and develop new innovative consumer and
commercial products that would not have been possible prior to the
introduction of the GE865-QUAD."

The GE865-QUAD utilizes a Ball Grid Array (BGA) installation concept and can
be easily incorporated into high-volume M2M production using tape and reel
packaging. Thanks to quad-band technology, this module can be operated on all
of the global GSM networks and makes all of the various data services possible
over GSM/GPRS networks. An integrated TCP/IP protocol stack provides support
for UDP, FTP and SMTP via AT commands.

In terms of software, as with all Telit modules, the GE865-QUAD can be fully
integrated with previous Telit platforms and implemented easily into existing
designs. Additionally, it is equipped with Over-the-Air firmware updates by
means of Premium FOTA Management, enabling extended, remote upgrades of the
module software. The GE865-QUAD is ideal for locating people or objects in
both professional and consumer applications. The module will be fully
certified for all international markets and is already available in sample
quantities.

GE865-QUAD also features RUN AT Commands which allows users to run any AT
Command via SMS or TCP. The remote control of different events on the
application side is drastically simplified by using text messages from any
phone for both activation commands and receiving replies. Some key
applications of this feature are related to monitoring of GPIOs, roaming,
battery level, voltage or module state with the possibility to send alerts in
the event that conditions change. The GE865-QUAD also features an extended
temperature range from -40 degrees F to +185 degrees F (-40 degrees C to +85
degrees C).
