Dauphin DataCom Standardizes on Ruckus Wireless for the Next Generation of
Wireless LANs
HARRISBURG, Pa., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Dauphin DataCom (A Division of
Dauphin Electric), a leading provider of technology solutions, has announced
today that it has selected and is standardizing on Ruckus Wireless(TM)
ZoneFlex(TM) Smart Wireless LAN (WLAN) products and technology to support
next-generation wireless LAN (WLAN) applications within a wide range of
enterprise environments.
Over the last six months, Dauphin has installed Ruckus Smart WLAN systems in a
variety of enterprises and school districts including the Warwick School
District, the Montgomery Area School District and the Waynesboro Area School
District.
Dauphin's selection of Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi technology is based on growing
demand for faster and more reliable Wi-Fi connectivity to support a myriad of
media-rich applications from graphics-rich Internet access to IP-based voice
and video communications.
"Given the explosion of wireless-enabled devices, we are seeing increased
demand for more reliable, robust Wi-Fi solutions that deliver predictable
performance at a competitive price range," said Kurt Mark, senior account
manager at Dauphin DataCom. "Wi-Fi is no longer viewed as a nice-to-have but
rather as an essential element for increasing productivity and reducing
traditional operational costs. Ruckus has innovated products and technology
in this area to deliver the next step in wireless reliability and performance
- at a fraction of the cost of competitive alternatives."
Unlike other Wi-Fi technology, Smart Wi-Fi from Ruckus Wireless is based on
state-of-the-art Wi-Fi signal routing technology that extends signal range and
automatically adapts to changes in the environment that degrade performance,
and allows enterprises to offer better coverage and more reliable services at
a lower total cost of ownership.
"Schools are among the biggest benefactors of better Wi-Fi," said Mark. "The
ever-changing environment within the education market coupled with more
sophisticated applications and computing devices is pushing Wi-Fi technology
to do much more than it ever has."
Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi is based on recent technical advances that enable Wi-Fi
signals to be focused only toward users requiring service. Through the use of
patented beamforming and beamsteering technology called BeamFlex(TM), Wi-Fi
signals are constantly routed over the highest performing paths and around
obstacles that cause interference and degraded performance.
"People are fed up with dropped connections, spotty coverage and flaky
wireless performance," said David Callisch, VP of marketing at Ruckus
Wireless. "If they are going to spend more on 802.11n technology, they want
some assurance that the performance they are promised is delivered and that
the user experience is dramatically better than it has been historically. We
are giving them that assurance by making Wi-Fi much more deterministic."
