MILPITAS, CA, Mar 30 (MARKET WIRE) --
Amidst the staggering layoffs and turbulent economy, 88 percent of laid
off employees rate their layoff experiences as poor, 81 percent of those
still employed believe job security is poor and 74 percent rate morale as
poor, according to the latest data released by Telonu, a new rating and
review site for the workplace.
In data collected since October 2008, laid off employees' rate their
experience of "how layoff was handled" at 1.9 out of 5.0, with 88 percent
rating it as poor or very poor. Detailed written reviews accompanying the
ratings at Telonu's layoff microsite (www.telonu.com/layoffs) attribute
the low scores to the suddenness and impersonal nature of layoffs.
The good news from an employer's perspective, however, is that the laid
off workers score "consider working here again" at an average 2.4, either
attributing the layoffs to the overall economy or because of the severance
packages and health insurance, which score an average 2.2, with a
comparatively lower 72 percent rating them as poor or very poor.
Outplacement support scored the least at 1.3 with 94 percent rating it as
poor or very poor. The scale ranges from very poor and poor through fair
to good and very good.
Telonu is the only site that lets laid off and employed workers rate the
layoffs at their companies on variables such as how they were handled,
severance package, insurance, outplacement support, morale, job security
and whether they would consider working for the company again. More than
5000 employees have submitted their ratings on www.telonu.com since
October 2008.
Reviews posted by those still employed indicate that 81 percent believe
job security is poor and 74 percent rate morale of survivors as poor, with
overall ratings of 2.1 and 2.2 respectively. Written reviews indicate that
many currently employed are feeling overworked due to recent layoffs and
are stressed that they may be next.
Telonu's free Layoff Tracker widget at www.telonu.com/widgets displays the
number of jobs affected by company. Automatically updated in real time, it
can be easily placed on any website or blog. Telonu's Layoff Tracker has
counted close to one million layoffs since it was launched in October,
with January having been the highest at 283,627 layoffs.
