Top-Ranked Healthcare Institution to Leverage Eclipsys` Sunrise Enterprise
Platform across Multi-Care Setting Enterprise

ATLANTA--(Business Wire)--
Eclipsys Corporation (NASDAQ: ECLP), The Outcomes Company, today announced that
Lahey Clinic (Burlington, MA), a physician-led, nonprofit healthcare
organization consistently ranked among the nation`s best, has signed a strategic
agreement to implement a wide-range of Eclipsys Sunrise Enterprise clinical
solutions to create an enterprise-wide electronic medical record (EMR). The EMR
project involves Lahey Clinic`s two acute care medical centers and will
establish an interoperable platform to leverage a prior investment in an
ambulatory EMR solution for Lahey`s outpatient settings. By implementing an
integrated inpatient-ambulatory EMR, Lahey Clinic will create a seamless flow of
patient information across facilities to support continuity of care and enhanced
clinical decision making in the physician office, clinic and hospital care
settings.

Superior Clinical Solutions; Shared Vision for System Interoperability

"We sought a partner that could provide superior clinical solutions, clinical
content, and a shared vision for interoperability," said Sandy Kurtz, MD, chief
operating officer, Lahey Clinic. "Eclipsys demonstrated to us that they would be
the best partner to collaborate with us in utilizing technology to support high
quality and safe patient care across our campus, as well as enhancing our
institution`s acclaimed high acuity service areas. In addition, Eclipsys`
willingness and technical capability to leverage existing Lahey technology
solutions was attractive to us. We look forward to a successful implementation
and fully taking advantage of this opportunity for significant clinical and
operational benefits."

Lahey Clinic will implement Eclipsys` Sunrise Acute Care, Sunrise Pharmacy and
Knowledge-Based Charting solutions to establish an EMR with clinical decision
support. All of these solutions reside on the Eclipsys XA extended architecture,
an open and flexible technology platform that enables healthcare providers to
share information securely among disparate systems both inside and outside of
the organization. In combination, the new clinical solutions will provide Lahey
Clinic clinicians with fully integrated clinical workflows to help improve
clinical outcomes and turnaround time. New tools include e-prescribing and
orders reconciliation capabilities, along with a shared enterprise-wide view of
the patient`s latest administered medications, lab and test results. To further
support medication safety, Knowledge-Based Medication Administration , a
bar-coded medication administration system, will be used to support nurses in
validating the five rights of medication administration (right patient, right
medication, right dose, right route, and right time).

The Eclipsys computerized physician order entry solution (CPOE) will be deployed
in a staged rollout. Eclipsys leads the industry in CPOE adoption. In the United
States, one in four medical orders placed daily by clinicians is performed using
an Eclipsys system. The solution`s high adoption rates and speed are based on
embedded complex algorithms that transcend fundamental order entry to
automatically interpret and recalculate new order protocols in real time based
on any updates to the patient condition. With more than 30 years of experience,
Eclipsys has leveraged the input of thousands of physicians for evidence-based
order sets and frequently used protocols to achieve unmatched, continuous
evolution in its CPOE capabilities. The result is an intuitive, easy-to-adopt
solution with highly complex clinical decision support capabilities that will
provide workflows tailored to how Lahey Clinic physicians practice medicine and
support fully automating even the most complex order sets and medication
ordering, including the exacting protocols, long-range medication schedules and
complicated treatment plans commonplace in oncology and pediatric care
environments.

The Lahey Clinic EMR decision coincides with the recently enacted American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which is designed to offer incentives to
hospitals and providers for "Meaningful Use of an Electronic Health Record" to
lower the costs and complexity associated with the nation`s healthcare system.
An implementation timeline has been developed to support Lahey Clinic in meeting
the stimulus package qualification/payment deadlines.

Enhanced Operational Efficiency Clinical Outcomes, Financial Performance

To further realize the benefits of its enterprise-wide EMR technology
initiative, Lahey Clinic will begin implementing the Eclipsys Performance
Management solution suite to achieve rapid and sustainable improvements in
operational efficiency, clinical outcomes and financial performance. The
solution suite offers award-winning decision support, clinical analytics, and
the newly acquired patient flow solution, Sunrise Patient Flow. Easy to install,
with rapid return on investment and minimal up-front expense, these solutions
will give Lahey Clinic management tools to gather, analyze and display
enterprise-wide information in near real-time to support improved clinical
quality, cost-efficiency and patient satisfaction while patients are still in
the facility. Lahey Clinic has purchased Sunrise Clinical Analytics, Sunrise
EPSi with EPSi Analytics and retains an option to purchase Sunrise Patient Flow.

"Lahey Clinic began its process looking for a technology solution partner who
could help them meet the challenges of today`s highly competitive and heavily
regulated healthcare environment. We are honored to have this nationally
recognized healthcare institution select Eclipsys as the best partner to assist
them in meeting their goals," said Jay Deady, Eclipsys` executive vice president
of Client Solutions. "Eclipsys has a strong track record of supporting its
clients in attaining IT adoption through our open platform. Moreover, we are
proud of our professional services teams` capability to execute on time and on
budget implementations while achieving industry-leading clinician adoption,
which takes on even more importance with the new stimulus package. Providers
will be required to demonstrate meaningful use of EMRs, a requirement that
directly aligns with our corporate culture and track record as The Outcomes
Company. Our focus is not to simply implement new technology. Our primary goal
is to help healthcare organizations move beyond mere solution go-lives to
achieve rapid and meaningful outcomes from their investment in Eclipsys
solutions."
