California Institution to Deploy Datatel Colleague and ActiveAdmissions FAIRFAX, Va.--(Business Wire)-- Datatel, Inc. today announced that Vanguard University of Southern California has selected Datatel to create a Strategic Academic Enterprise™ that will support the institution`s planning through data-driven decision making, attract exceptional students, and solidify its constituent community. The newly acquired Datatel technology and professional services will replace a SunGard Higher Education system used by the University. Vanguard, a four-year private liberal arts university and named one of the top five best baccalaureate colleges in the West by U.S. News & World Report for 2009, went through a vigorous evaluation process before choosing Datatel as its technology and services partner. "Datatel did a thorough evaluation of how Vanguard does business, and then demonstrated how they could help improve our processes using its products and services," said John Mark Robeck, Vanguard University`s IT Project Manager. "They did this by providing a solution that was of great value and the `biggest bang for the buck`." The University has licensed Datatel Colleague®, a technology solution specifically designed to manage and improve departmental workflows, business processes, productivity, and efficiency across the Strategic Academic Enterprise. The University has also licensed Datatel ActiveAdmissions™, a comprehensive e-recruitment solution that transforms institutional websites into a personalized and engaging enrollment tool. "ActiveAdmissions will enable us to market to prospective students and bolster our enrollment, which in today`s economic environment is extremely important," said Robeck. "With ActiveAdmissions, Vanguard will operate more efficiently at recruiting, and hopes to show a great return on investment." End-users at the University will access campus-wide information and resources using Datatel ActiveCampus® Portal, a Web-based workgroup collaboration and social networking system. Built on Microsoft SharePoint® technology, ActiveCampus Portal provides a single point of access across the Strategic Academic Enterprise. "The ActiveCampus Portal will help Vanguard create a sense of community on a large scale within our University by allowing users to interact and share information," said Robeck. Datatel`s Strategic Academic Enterprise is a holistic approach that focuses on and supports five cross-functional domains essential for achieving institutional and student success: Strategic Enrollment Management, Strategic Planning, Institutional Advancement and Marketing, Teaching and Learning, and Performance and Operational Management. The Strategic Academic Enterprise extends traditional enterprise resource planning (ERP) models by viewing administrative and academic functions as vital interdependent business processes across the higher education environment.
