Siemens Showcases Value of Enterprise Class Voice and Unified Communications

WHAT: Siemens Enterprise Communications (SEN), will be illustrating the future
of enterprise class voice and unified communication (UC) with a booth (#601)
demonstration that shows the Siemens OpenScape Voice and OpenScape UC
Applications running in the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2)
environment. This proof-of-concept is part of Siemens' ongoing commitment to
explore innovative new ways for partners and customers to adopt best-of-breed
UC applications that meet their business goals.
Because Siemens has designed and built the OpenScape UC Server and OpenScape
Voice solutions on OpenSOA Web services standards, they are uniquely
positioned for deployment in cloud computing environments. Working closely
with Amazon Web Service (AWS), Siemens has already determined, based on
testing, that the solutions are compatible with the Amazon EC2 environment. In
addition, OpenScape UC Server and OpenScape Voice are designed to be vendor
agnostic and to allow for open integration into other 3rd party cloud
applications, opening the future possibility for embedding communication in
Amazon hosted business process applications.
WHY: For organizations with limited capital budgets and resources, this new
"pay-as-you-go" model has the potential to help eliminate or limit traditional
barriers and costs associated with adopting new software-based voice and UC
solutions. By making them available as Web services through the Internet,
customers can avoid the need to invest in additional infrastructure, which can
preserve their capital funds, and help to reduce administrative and operating
costs and increase their corporate asset efficiency.
