EH Module Provides Drop-in Power Solution
MINNEAPOLIS--(Business Wire)--
Cymbet Corporation today announced that it has introduced the EnerChip EH
CBC5300 Energy Harvesting Module. This module is used with small photo voltaic
cells to power devices using ambient solar energy harvesting. The EnerChip EH
provides energy conversion, energy storage and power management in a single
package, using new high-efficiency energy conversion techniques and energy aware
functions. This compact module comes in a standard 24-pin DIP package and uses
two EnerChip CBC050 solid state energy chips to provide 100µAh of power. A
"green" power solution, the EnerChip EH module enables designers to rapidly
create zero-power devices such as smart building wireless sensors, active RFID
tags, patient status devices and equipment data loggers that are more
environmentally friendly.

Drop-in Solar Energy Harvesting Power Solutions

Creating power-efficient and cost-effective solar energy harvesting power
solutions is a complex task. There are many design variables that must be taken
into account. The Cymbet EnerChip EH module solves this complexity by
incorporating advanced technologies into a single package that can be used as a
drop-in power solution. With >5000 recharge cycles, low self-discharge, fast
charging times and stable output voltage, the EnerChip EH can be connected to
many different microcontrollers and low-power wireless devices.

"Our new EnerChip EH module offers significant solar conversion and energy
efficiency advantages to our customers," said Bill Priesmeyer, Cymbet CEO.
"Integrating EnerChips and innovative energy harvesting circuitry into a single
package provides many new ways to create zero-power devices."

EnerChip EH Solar Evaluation Kit - CBC-EVAL-08

To evaluate the EnerChip EH CBC5300, Cymbet is offering customers the
CBC-EVAL-08 Solar Energy Harvesting evaluation kit that contains a solar panel
board with a socketed EnerChip EH module. The EVAL-08 board has a 5-pin
connector with cable for connection to a target device to be powered. There also
is a connector for a customer-supplied solar panel. The EVAL-08 works well in
low-light conditions and is an ideal platform for prototyping both indoor and
outdoor solar energy harvesting applications.

EnerChip EH CBC5300 Module and EVAL-08 Kit Available Now

The EnerChip EH module and CBC-EVAL-08 Eval kits are available now from several
suppliers. They can be purchased as part of the Texas Instruments
eZ430-RF2500-SEH solar energy harvesting wireless demo kit at the TI e-store.
They are also available from available from the Cymbet Distribution partners
listed on the Cymbet Web site.

Zero Power Wireless Sensors Whitepaper

Cymbet also has provided additional information for designers in a free white
paper titled "Zero Power Wireless Sensors." This paper is available on the
Company`s Web site at http://www.cymbet.com/content/whitepaper.asp.

Demonstrating the EnerChip EH Module at ESC SJ 2009

Cymbet will be demonstrating the new EnerChip EH Module and CBC-EVAL-08
evaluation kit at the Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) in San Jose, Calif.,
March 31 to April 2 in Booth #436 and in the TI Third Party Pavilion Booth #830.
