WASHINGTON, March 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In a letter submitted to
Congressional leadership on March 27, 2009, Information Technology Industry
Council (ITI) President and CEO Dean Garfield urged Congress and the President
to consider certain fundamental principles during the budget decision-making
process to ensure the nation's global and economic competitiveness. The
principles offered by Garfield focus on investing in sustainable growth,
recognizing the globally competitive environment in which we operate, and
encouraging purposeful and collaborative public-private partnerships.

"As the head of the global organization representing the nation's leading
high-technology companies, I offered these principles because of my belief
that we have a shared responsibility as citizens to help develop a 2010 budget
that will secure the nation's economic competitiveness and the next
generation's future," Garfield said.

Garfield further stressed that, "In these difficult economic times, where job
retention and creation is critical, the 2010 budget should take steps to help,
not harm the global competitiveness of American companies. We stand ready to
roll up our sleeves and work together to ensure that America, not only stays
competitive, but is well positioned to succeed in the 21st century global
economy."
