Complimentary Continuing Education Newsletter for Healthcare Professionals

VOORHEES, N.J., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Evaluation and management of patients
with urticaria (hives) and angioedema can be challenging, as both disorders
can be caused by a number of immunologic and nonimmunologic mechanisms.
Accurate diagnosis is further hindered by the seemingly identical presentation
of angioedema subtypes. It is important that healthcare professionals who
treat angioedema and urticaria understand the pathophysiology of each
angioedema subgroup in order to properly identify and treat acute angioedema
episodes.

To address the need for current education on angioedema, Robert Michael
Educational Institute LLC (RMEI) and Postgraduate Institute for Medicine (PIM)
are jointly sponsoring a three-part complimentary continuing education
newsletter series. This series, which is certified for physicians and nurse
practitioners, is supported by an educational grant from ViroPharma
Incorporated. New Directions in Angioedema: A Focus on Pathogenesis and
Classification is the first newsletter of this series.

Timothy Craig, MD, Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the Pennsylvania
State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and Aleena
Banerji, MD, Instructor of Medicine and Assistant Training Program Director at
Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, comprise the
editorial board for this newsletter series.

Healthcare professionals can download this continuing education newsletter by
