Umpqua Bank Creates Eco-Banking Division

Names LEED Accredited Loan Specialist Dan Weldon Eco-Banking Manager
PORTLAND, Ore.--(Business Wire)--
Umpqua Bank, a subsidiary of Umpqua Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ:UMPQ), has
created a new eco-banking division and promoted vice president Dan Weldon to
eco-banking manager. Weldon is one of the few senior lending specialists in the
nation who is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited
Professional, and will be responsible for building and leading the bank`s
eco-banking division. 

With the goals of reducing energy and resource consumption within the
communities Umpqua serves and supporting businesses committed to becoming more
environmentally sustainable, Weldon is assembling a team of leaders across all
of the company`s business units. These units include: mortgage, commercial
lending, community banking and private client services. In addition, Weldon will
lead the development, delivery and tracking of Umpqua Bank`s energy loan and
deposit programs, including the GreenStreet lending program which offers
financing options designed to help small businesses and homeowners invest in
energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Weldon is based in Portland,
Ore. and will report to Steve Rice, executive vice president commercial banking.

Additionally, Weldon was recently asked to join Mayor Sam Adams` Planning and
Sustainability Cabinet, which will bring together Portland`s most experienced
leaders to advise the Mayor on the challenges and opportunities associated with
the city`s impending growth. 

Weldon has nearly 20 years of banking experience. He began his banking career as
a community development loan officer with First Interstate Bank before moving
into the position of commercial relationship manager for Umpqua Bank. Weldon
earned his LEED accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in
2007. He is also a member of Cascadia Green Building Council, was a participant
in the 2008 Cascadia GBC Green Broker conference and the Sustainable Forests
Conference. 

Weldon received his bachelor`s degree from California Polytechnic State
University, San Luis Obispo, and his master`s in business administration from
George Fox University.
