SCOTTSDALE, AZ, Mar 30 (MARKET WIRE) --
Sparkplug Communications, a leading provider of fixed wireless business
broadband services, today announced that Daman Wood has been named Vice
President of Sales as part of the company's continued growth. He will be
responsible for leading Sparkplug's Carrier, Government and Business
Services sales groups.
Prior to his current role, Wood was Executive Director of Wholesale
Markets at Sparkplug, responsible for all carrier, cable, government,
education and healthcare accounts. Before Sparkplug, Wood served as
Director of Sales and Marketing at Next Level Solutions, Inc., a value
added reseller and integrator of wireless solutions. While at Next Level,
Wood led worldwide sales across all product offerings and vertical
markets, realizing a 130 percent increase in revenues year over year.
Before joining Next Level, he was Director of Sales for TeleSpectra, which
was later acquired by Sparkplug. During his tenure with TeleSpectra from
2002 to 2006, Wood managed all sales for many of the same accounts for
which he is now responsible, and grew the company's revenue by 300
percent.
Wood's promotion represents another addition to Sparkplug's core
leadership team. This move comes on the heels of the hiring of Joel Payne
as Vice President for Engineering and Operations and Maria Farnon as Vice
President of Marketing.
Since 2006, the company has seen significant growth, both through mergers
and acquisitions with other fixed wireless providers, and through the
expansion of its business broadband and data services across seven states
and five metropolitan markets.
"I am very excited by the strength of my executive team," said Michael
Ruley, CEO of Sparkplug. "Sparkplug is now on a path to achieve a
leadership position in the wireless broadband industry. Daman brings a
long history of proven success with the company, rounding out a new
leadership team that will be focused on expanding the company's
capabilities across all fronts."
"After leading Sparkplug's carrier and government sales, which represent
some of our biggest and most demanding customers, I plan to bring the same
level of quality service to our business and enterprise segments," Wood
said. "The opportunity is greater than ever in an economic environment
where businesses are looking for flexibility -- and wireless is the one
broadband technology that can ratchet up or down quickly with the
customer's demand."
Wood brings a long history of experience in the telecommunications
industry, having held various management positions with XO/Nextlink
Communications and Syntellect, Inc. He holds a BS in Systems Engineering
from the United States Military Academy at West Point and MBA from the
W.P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University.
