Intelligent Performance with Intel® QuickPath Technology Unleashes the Parallel
Processing Performance of Intel® Microarchitecture Integrated with Verari`s
Blade-Based Platforms
SAN DIEGO--(Business Wire)--
Verari Systems®, a premier developer of ultra-high efficiency blade-based
computing and storage platforms for the data center, today announced that its
BladeRack® 2 X-Series platforms will now support the next generation of Intel`s
intelligent server processors. The combination offers customers unparalleled
performance, density, and energy savings for data center consolidation efforts.
Verari Systems` VB1300 Series blade-based computing platforms offer options
including the quad-core (up to 2.93GHz) Intel® Xeon® processor 5500 series.

"You can`t find an IT operation that isn`t looking to dramatically improve data
center efficiency," said Steve Duplessie, senior analyst with ESG. "When it
comes to power, cooling and space efficiency (PCSE), Verari already leads the
pack. With the new Intel Xeon processor 5500 series, a great data center
consolidation package just got that much better."

In today`s data center environments where energy costs are skyrocketing, Verari
Systems is integrating Intel`s new processors in its data center consolidation
platforms to deliver dramatic cost savings and enormous operational benefits. By
utilizing its patented Vertical Cooling Technology, Verari has been able to
achieve an industry-leading SPECpower_ssj™ 2008 score of 1943, a new world
record that is 53% higher than previously submitted numbers to SPEC.org as of
March 26, 2009. Customers installing Verari data center consolidation platforms
utilizing the Intel® Xeon® processor 5500 series will also benefit from an
increase in energy rebates - up to 25% - from utilities that offer IT incentive
programs for implementing more efficient servers.

"In these tough economic times, data center managers are looking for every
opportunity to cut costs," said Dan Gatti, senior vice president of worldwide
market operations, Verari Systems. "These managers often overlook the fact that
the majority of an IT budget is spent maintaining inefficient and aging
installed-base servers that consume too much power and space for the performance
and capability they deliver."

"Consolidating aging and less efficient single core servers with a new
generation of adaptable servers based on the new Intel Xeon processor 5500
Series can provide a server investment payback in as low as eight months while
delivering up to a 90 percent reduction in operating costs," said Kirk Skaugen,
Intel vice president and general manager, Server Platforms Group. "Verari and
Intel are working closely together to optimize datacenter total cost of
ownership in a tough economic environment."

The Verari Systems VB1305 blade server is available with up to 64GB of DDR3
memory and includes storage options of up to 2TB with fixed or hot-swap drives.
The VB1310 blade server is purpose built for applications with large memory
model footprints or virtualization requirements such as VMware. With support for
up to 144GB of DDR3 RAM and up to eight Gigabit Ethernet ports, the VB1310
series blade makes the perfect virtual machine server. For more demanding
enterprise applications, the Verari Systems VB1315 can be configured with up to
96GB of DDR3 memory and 4TB of internal SATA storage. The entire VB1300 Series
features intelligent performance with Intel`s® QuickPath Technology that
unleashes the parallel processing performance of Intel® microarchitecture.

According to Steve O`Donnell, noted IT operations expert and owner of the
popular blog www.thehotaisle.com, "IT Operations is all about getting rid of
inefficiencies and eliminating problems. Anytime I can lower my environmental
costs, decrease my footprint, decrease complexity, and increase performance - I
will."

Verari`s product management team has announced the VB1300 Series blade servers
utilizing the Intel® Xeon® processor 5500 series are immediately available.
