BIO-key(R) Awarded Biometric Contract With Federal Probation and Pretrial
Services
Federal Probation and Pretrial Services Office of US Courts Deploying
Biometric Kiosks Nationwide
WALL, N.J., March 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BIO-key International, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: BKYI), a leader in finger-based biometric identification
and wireless public safety solutions, today announced a contract award from
the Federal Probation and Pretrial Services Office, an office of the
Administrative Office of the United States Courts. Under terms of the
contract, the Federal Probation and Pretrial Services Office has licensed
BIO-key's award winning WEB-key(R) platform for use in their fingerprint
enabled identity management kiosks.

As part of this project, the Federal Probation and Pretrial Services'
centrally managed database is updated by a web enabled application running on
each kiosk. This is a perfect fit for WEB-key, which provides the Federal
Probation and Pretrial Services system with a centralized personnel
authentication process based on BIO-key's patented fingerprint identification.
Once enrolled, WEB-key positively identifies the offender/defendant anywhere
within the system. Additionally, the biometric will be used to positively
identify a person under federal supervision when arriving at the probation or
pretrial services office location for scheduled meetings.
The United States Federal Court system includes the Supreme Court, the Courts
of Appeal, District Courts and Bankruptcy Courts. In 2008 over 349,000 Filings
were made in the US District Courts alone. The addition of BIO-key's
accurate, scalable technology has enabled the Federal Probation and Pretrial
Services system to streamline the process of capturing information, minimizing
the time needed to verify identities. This is the first use of the technology
in the Federal Probation and Pretrial Services system for this type of
identification.
"This is another example of how federal governments are leveraging BIO-key's
biometric solutions, proving again that we have the most secure and easily
deployable biometric identity products on the market today," stated Mike
DePasquale, BIO-key's Chief Executive Officer. "The deployment of
biometrically-enabled kiosks is an innovative solution that the United States
Federal Probation and Pretrial Services Office has developed for use in
identifying offenders and defendants and we are extremely excited to be
working in partnership to make their process more efficient and accurate,
especially in an economy where security and cost savings are top priorities."
