Seoul shares may fall;U.S. auto woes, won in focus
SEOUL, March 31 (Reuters) - Seoul shares may extend losses on Tuesday after U.S. markets tumbled on growing concerns over the auto and banking industries and as the falling won KRW= currency is set to promote more foreign selling.
"The won has fallen further against the dollar in non-deliverable forward trading overnight and companies sensitive to the dollar rate will feel the impact," said Eric Lee, an analyst at Woori Investment & Securities.
The weakening won would also hurt buying interest from foreign investors, Lee added.
Expectations for poor first-quarter earnings will likely weigh on the overall market, but sectors that are poised for a turnaround, such as memory chips and liquid crystal displays, could hold up, analysts said.
Economic data is also in the spotlight ahead of February industrial output, due later Tuesday, and March exports data, due Wednesday.
