TAIPEI, April 6 (Reuters) - Taiwan smartphone maker HTC (2498.TW) on Monday posted a 30 percent dip in its first-quarter earnings, as the economic crisis sapped demand for the company's feature-jammed mobile phones.

HTC said in a statement its first-quarter self-assessed net profit was T$4.89 billion ($148 million), ahead of a T$4.64 billion forecast in a Reuters Estimates poll of 10 analysts and compared to a net profit of T$6.945 billion for the same period last year.
