Albuquerque the First of Five New Markets Slated to Feature MoleSafe Skin
Cancer Detection Facilities in 2009
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- MoleSafe (www.molesafe.com), a
company that offers an advanced skin cancer detection program, announced today
it has opened its second U.S. location in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The company
opened its first U.S. location in Millburn, New Jersey, in 2008. MoleSafe
originated in New Zealand, which is the melanoma capital of the world. The
company is scheduled to open in five new markets in the coming year. The
Albuquerque location is overseen by Donald Harville, MD, a Board-certified
dermatologist.

MoleSafe's four-pronged detection program is utilized by more than 40 melanoma
screening centers around the world. To date, MoleSafe has archived more than
one million lesions, and close to two and half million lesion images, into its
central database. These images have been made available to Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and other top institutions in the U.S. for
melanoma research and study. Additionally, clinical studies have shown that
the number of melanoma cases detected by the MoleMap technology could be up to
15 times greater than those detected via conventional techniques.
The MoleSafe procedure represents a new standard of care and is part of a
life-long program for the early detection of melanoma. It has four key
elements:
-- Risk assessment: Using its database, MoleSafe has developed a risk
assessment model that can help identify patients who may be at higher
risk of melanoma;
-- Serial Digital Dermoscopy: Individual moles are imaged
microscopically,
and tagged to their location on the body for subsequent diagnosis,
identification and comparison over time;
-- Diagnosis and Management: The patient's complete skin record,
including digital images and clinical information, is sent via a
secure
tele-dermatology network to MoleSafe's international panel of
world-class melanoma dermatologists (dermoscopists) for analysis and
reporting. Patients and their designated doctors receive their reports
and their digital melanogram. MoleSafe should be considered an
integral
part of a complete surveillance program for the at-risk melanoma
patient.
-- Education and Follow-up: The MoleSafe melanographer, a trained nurse,
nurse practitioner or physician assistant educates patients about the
risks of sun exposure, and helps generate a continuing partnership
between MoleSafe, the patient and his/her doctor.
The MoleSafe Albuquerque location will implement the licensed skin cancer
detection program and will be managed by Dr. Donald Harville. Dr. Harville
holds his M.D. Degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School
and his M.S. Degree in Dermatology from the University of Minnesota.
