Obama pledges Turkey further support in fighting PKK

ANKARA (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Monday the United States was open to providing Turkey further support in its fight against Kurdish separatist rebels, many of whom are based in northern Iraq.

"We have seen that cooperation bear fruit," Obama told a joint news conference with Turkish President Abdullah Gul. Obama said the United States considered the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) a terrorist organization.
