SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(Business Wire)--
The Town of Little Elm, Texas, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, has
selected American Traffic Solutions, Inc. (ATS) to serve as the city`s red-light
camera traffic safety program vendor. Little Elm`s red-light camera safety
program will focus on the most dangerous, high-speed intersections where the
largest number of violations are occurring, such as intersections along Highway
380.

In 2008, Little Elm Officers responded to 246 crashes. The city recently
performed a study to measure the severity of the red light violations. The
results show four intersections with double-digit violations - and in some cases
up to 27 violations - during an 8-hour period.

"The Police Department is at a point where we need to be creative in terms of
improvising to supplement our limited resources," Police Chief Waylan Rhodes
said. "There are other factors to consider, such as lack of police officers to
keep up with the increased growth and town annexation that has created an
increase in police calls for service, especially accidents. We simply cannot
maintain police presence on Highway 380 as much as we would like to.

"When police officers and firefighters respond to a fatality accident we get to
see the loss of life up close, and all because someone either carelessly or
aggressively ran a red light. Honestly, I don`t believe those who are skeptical
about red-light cameras really believe its OK to run red lights, I hope. The
cameras are proven to reduce the number of violations and crashes, so we need
them here in Little Elm," Rhodes concluded.

A recent 2008 stateside study required by the Texas legislature shows that
cameras reduce the number of red-light crashes by 30%. Other studies prove that
cameras reduce the number of red-light violations by 40-50%.

The Town of Little Elm in Denton County, Texas is one of the fastest growing
municipalities in Texas. In 2000, its population was 3,600 and today estimates
show that number to be nearly 23,000 residents.

ATS serves more than 150 communities with red-light and speed camera programs
across the U.S. and Canada. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, ATS serves Arlington,
Balcones Heights, Burleson, Cedar Hill, Fort Worth, Hutto, and Irving. Elsewhere
in Texas, ATS serves the cities of Houston, Amarillo, Baytown, Beaumont, College
Station, Conroe, Humble, Jersey Village, and Sugar Land. The company has two
Texas regional offices, one in Missouri City (southwest of Houston) and the
other in Arlington.
