COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Air Force major Suzy Keller
is a football fan, and doesn't just attend the games -- she participates in
them.

Keller, a supply planner supervisor in Land Supplier Operations at Defense
Supply Center Columbus, Ohio, is gearing up for another season with the
Columbus Comets, a member of the Women's Football Alliance.

Defense Supply Center Columbus is the land and maritime supply chain manager
for the Defense Logistics Agency. DSCC manages more than 2 million different
items and accounts for more than $3 billion in annual sales.

Keller played linebacker for the team last year until she was sidelined by a
broken ankle suffered during the fourth game of the season. She'll play as a
defensive end this season.

A newspaper ad drew her interest in the team. A mother of three, Keller fits
time into her busy schedule to practice and prepare for the upcoming season.

"It's a large commitment in terms of time," she said. "There's a lot to study
and learn in the game of football."

She points out that for men who grew up playing football, the techniques of
the game probably seem like second nature. However, even for women who grew up
playing sports, football wasn't an option so they're all learning as adults
how to play the game.

"It's exhilarating and exciting to be given the chance to play," she said.
"Most people are surprised to find out that there is a women's tackle football
league."

Columbus has had a women's team since 2003, and it has enjoyed winning seasons
each year. Last year's team finished 7-3 and lost in the playoff semifinals,
but in 2007 the Comets went all the way to the National Women's Football
Association championship game. Losing to the Pittsburgh Passion, the Comets
were 9-3 on the year.

An April 18 home game with the Pittsburgh Force will open the 2009 season.
