Harris Corporation Receives Type 1 Certification from National Security Agency
for Software Upgrade to SecNet 54(R) Secure Encryption Device

ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:
HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has
received Type 1 certification from the National Security Agency for its
version 2.0 software upgrade to its SecNet 54 (R) secure local area network
(LAN) encryption device. SecNet 54 version 2.0 makes it easier for users to
access and transmit classified information over a secure network connection.

Software version 2.0 adds significant capabilities to the SecNet 54 device,
including full High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryption (HAIPE) 1.3.5
compliance as verified through HAIPE interoperability testing. HAIPE Version
1.3.5 compliance, as well as the introduction of other integrated commercial
networking features, including DHCP, VPN, NAT, NAT-T and VLAN support,
streamline the process of establishing TOP SECRET / SCI secure connections for
transmitting IP voice and data. Also, the consolidation of networking
features into a single networking device eliminates the need for additional
bulky pieces of ancillary hardware in the field.

Among the upgrades are new capabilities enabling users to open a secure Type 1
encrypted "tunnel" through existing infrastructure such as commercial wireless
and wired public access points in locations such hotels and restaurants.
SecNet 54 version 2.0 can also act as a bridge allowing users to connect two
separate secure networks by providing a virtual LAN "pass-through" capability,
and protect client information through a virtual private network (VPN)
connection. Version 2.0 also creates speedier secure identification through
automatic key exchanges.

"This software upgrade provides powerful additional tools that will allow
SecNet 54 users to plan, coordinate and communicate sensitive information with
the ultimate confidence that the network is secure," said Richard Rzepkowski,
vice president, Communications Security Products, RF Communications, Harris
Corporation. "This device is a smaller, lighter and faster way of delivering
high-speed encryption to a user's desktop, workgroups and Tactical Operation
Centers (TOCs), or even on the road. Version 2.0 also shows the power of
software programmability, providing new levels of functionality without
altering hardware designs."

SecNet 54 is a first-of-its-kind cryptographic communications device with a
modular architecture supporting both wired and wireless communication
technologies including 802.3 Ethernet and 802.11a/b/g wireless LANs. The
device offers high-grade, secure networking solutions for data, video and
voice over IP (VoIP) and is ideal for securing communications on the move or
at the desktop
