Small business owners receive access to healthcare plans, retirement solutions
and payroll services in one convenient package.

CHICAGO, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- AARP Services, Inc., the wholly owned
subsidiary of AARP, has launched a new initiative designed to assist small
business owners navigating the complexities of group health insurance,
retirement planning and payroll services.

The program, being test-marketed in Chicago and Tampa, Small Business Services
from AARP Services, Inc. will help meet the needs of the typically underserved
small business employer market. It will provide access to a convenient set of
health insurance plans, retirement plans, and payroll services, all from
leading providers, as well as educational resources to help them manage their
business and explore new ideas.

"In these challenging economic times, the need for a comprehensive benefits
package combined with extensive educational materials is more important than
ever," said John Wider, President and CEO of AARP Services, Inc. "AARP
Services Inc. recognizes that small business owners are looking for options
and guidance that will help them make informed decisions about their business
as well as how to meet their benefits needs."

The Small Business Services benefits package includes health and disability
insurance options through United Healthcare, 401(k) retirement plans from AARP
Financial Inc. and payroll solutions from Intuit.

Through research* AARP Services, Inc. has learned that more than half of all
business owners are over age 50 and that nearly half of the smaller companies
(10 or less employees) state that "no one is trying to sell" them employee
benefits. AARP Services, Inc. is seeking to provide support for this
underserved segment of the market, by combining extensive and targeted
research with a keen understanding of the needs of small business owners.

"A major goal of Small Business Services is also to provide educational tools
and support to help small business owners understand the best approach to take
when offering health, retirement and payroll solutions," adds Wider.

Therefore, small business owners will also receive access to information
through a Small Business Services website (www.aarpfinancial.com/smallbiz)
designed to help them make informed decisions about what products are right
for them and their employees.

The program will initially only be available in Tampa, Florida and Chicago,
Illinois. The limited launch will help AARP Services, Inc. further evaluate
how well the program resonates with this important market segment. Other
markets may be added later in the year.

Small business owners are not required to be members of AARP in order to
access the program. For more information about Small Business Services, visit
