Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates, Inc. (NASDAQ: VSEA) today
announced that the company plans to report its fiscal 2009 second quarter
results after the market closes on Thursday, April 30, 2009.

    A conference call to review the second quarter results and outlook for the
third quarter of fiscal 2009 is scheduled to follow at 5:30 PM Eastern
time that day.
