FALLS CHURCH, VA, Apr 07 (MARKET WIRE) --
Aptara, a pioneer in digital publishing solutions, announced today that
the IEEE Computer Society, the world's largest membership organization for
computing professionals, has entrusted Aptara with pre-production services
for the Society's technical journals.
The technological and mathematical nature of the journals' content
requires domain-specific editorial and composition services with a high
degree of technical and contextual accuracy. Employing an XML-based
parallel publishing workflow, Aptara is facilitating production of the
Society's journals for both print and Web-based delivery. XML processing
enables more rapid delivery of content, with formatting intact, for
convenient online viewing by the Society's membership.
"Aptara's wide-range of Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) solutions for
the publishing industry make our operations significantly more agile and
scalable. With more than 14,000 journal pages a year -- that equates to
real cost savings," said Alicia Stickley of the IEEE Computer Society.
"With Aptara we can simplify our production workflow and achieve a degree
of speed and accuracy that is costly to replicate in-house."
"Today's economic climate demands innovation," said Dev Ganesan, president
and chief executive officer of Aptara. "Whether it's flexible workflow for
multi-channel delivery or simply accelerating the time-to-market, we take
real pride in helping customers stay competitive by maximizing the impact
of their content. We are delighted to have been chosen by the IEEE
Computer Society to support faster publication of journal content while
delivering significant cost savings."
