Labor Leaders and Workers to Hold Rally in Support of Passage of the Employee
Free Choice Act at 5th & Market Streets, Philadelphia, PA on Wednesday, April
8th, at 3:00 p.m.

Will be Delivering Letters and Postcards to Senator Arlen Specter's District
Office

Philadelphia area workers will hold a rally on Wednesday, April 8th, 2009 at
3:00 p.m. at 5th and Market Streets, next to the National Constitution Center
in Philadelphia in support of Congressional passage of the Employee Free
Choice Act. The rally will include a speakers program by Labor Leaders and
workers followed by the delivery of hundreds of signed letters and post cards
from workers asking Senator Arlen Specter to reconsider his recently announced
decision to oppose the legislation. Workers are disappointed that Senator
Specter has changed his position on the legislation. Senator Specter was once
a co-sponsor of identical legislation and in June 2007 he voted to stop a
Republican led filibuster in order to bring the legislation to the floor for
debate and consideration.

Labor leaders and workers will deliver the postcards and letters to Senator
Specter's nearby District Office. The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Working Families
Bus will also provide good visuals for still and video photographers.

The AFL-CIO is also kicking off a new television ad campaign in Pennsylvania
and in other key states around the nation this week showcasing the growing
support for the Employee Free Choice Act. The ad entitled "Fabric" features
workers calling for a fair share in today's economy and for passage of the
Employee Free Choice Act. To view the new television spot and for more
information visit: www.FreeChoiceAct.org. Other similar rallies are being held
in Harrisburg, Allentown, Wilkes-Barre, and Pittsburgh.
