Doylestown Hospital and Perot Systems Successfully Implement Advanced MEDITECH
6.0 Platform
MEDITECH's Advanced Clinical System brings enhanced look and feel to clinical
applications and satisfies patient safety and quality of care demands
PLANO, Texas, April 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Doylestown Hospital and Perot
Systems Corporation (NYSE: PER) (www.perotsystems.com) today announced the
MEDITECH Solutions Group within Perot Systems has successfully assisted with
the Pennsylvania-based hospital's implementation of an advanced Health Care
Information System (HCIS). MEDITECH 6.0 features a graphically richer look and
feel and is optimized to take advantage of the latest Advanced Clinical
Application feature sets in order to satisfy the demands of today's patient
safety and quality-of-care initiatives in the healthcare community. In
addition to the advanced HCIS, Doylestown Hospital also contracted with Perot
Systems for disaster recovery services which included the creation of a
secondary data center.
"We recognized the value of migrating our applications to MEDITECH 6.0 to
achieve our healthcare objective of delivering top quality care for our
patients," said Rick Lang, CIO of Doylestown Hospital. "We searched for a
solutions provider who could support us through the migration to 6.0
efficiently without disruption to the hospital's daily activities. We chose
Perot Systems because of their extensive in-depth technology and application
expertise. We also wanted to leverage the value of Perot Systems' close
relationship with MEDITECH. Our project would not have been successful without
the help of Perot Systems."
Perot Systems helped Doylestown migrate their system to MEDITECH's new 6.0
platform from MEDITECH's MAGIC platform. The migration plans called for a new
infrastructure design, technology selection, technology implementation, and
disaster recovery services, including the creation of a secondary data center
to support their self-hosted disaster recovery solution. Perot Systems'
consultants also provided implementation support on both the financial and
clinical applications.
"Many hospitals today are evaluating the benefits of MEDITECH's new 6.0
platform, and as one of the effective avenues to achieve compliance with the
new American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the interest in 6.0 is even
greater," said Berk Smith, Executive Vice President of Perot Systems'
healthcare group and global leader of the MEDITECH Solutions Group within
Perot Systems. "As an early adopter of MEDITECH's 6.0 technology, Doylestown
has successfully taken advantage of the advanced features and ultimately
improved the delivery of care. Our technology and application consultants have
worked closely with MEDITECH to gain an in-depth understanding of the
requirements necessary for successful migration and are uniquely prepared to
help hospitals, like Doylestown, implement 6.0."
"We needed a cost-effective alternative for ensuring MEDITECH system
continuity," stated Lang. "Minimizing downtime is essential because our
caregivers rely on the hospital's IT system. We leveraged Perot Systems'
design and implementation expertise to achieve a robust disaster recovery
strategy."
