MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, Apr 07 (MARKET WIRE) --
Fox Technologies, Incorporated (www.foxt.com), a leading provider of
comprehensive enterprise access management solutions, today announced a
managed Unified Data Access Control module within the BoKS Access Control
for Servers product family.
The Unified Data Access Control (UDAC) module makes policy-based access
control for file systems easier to implement because of the central
management by the BoKS Access Control for Server platform. BoKS Access
Control for Servers, a core part of the FoxT Enterprise Access Control
Management suite, is a non-intrusive solution that provides centralized
fine-grained access control, policy-based authentication, privileged
account management, and consolidated audit logs and reporting for
Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008, and a wide variety of UNIX and Linux
operating systems including virtualized server environments.
"Most modern operating systems already offer functions for file level
access control as a part of their standard system, and many are available
from platform vendors. We are pleased to announce a non-intrusive,
centrally managed Unified Data Access Control module for file level access
control as a part of the BoKS infrastructure," stated Subhash Tantry, CEO
at FoxT. "We are excited to meet the demand identified by our market
research, at price points that are highly competitive for our existing and
future customers."
The ability to control access down to the file and object level is an
important capability for achieving regulatory compliance and a deeper
level of access management. However, the richness and perceived
complexity of existing implementations from vendors or third parties has
thus far inhibited their use for compliance efforts. "We see
organizations either constrained to a single technical platform and
single supplier relationships, or implementing cross-platform with third
party solutions that are both difficult to install and maintain. These
limitations make it difficult for organizations to leverage compliance
with PCI, HIPPA, SOX and other regimes," stated David Dingwall, Director
of Product Marketing at FoxT.
"BoKS Access Control for Servers makes it significantly easier to
implement cross-platform file-level access control management. It is no
longer necessary to constrain your implementation to one vendor's
operating system to realize the full benefits of these functions. With
the introduction of our Unified Data Access Control solution, we automate
and standardize the control of file level data, thereby reducing the
ongoing costs of managing your multi-regime compliance efforts.
Standardizing access management and file access has obvious benefits for
our customer's purchasing departments, giving them the ability to select
platforms purely on basic cost-per-node criteria," David added. "In
addition, third party modules installed in each operating system kernel
are also no longer required. We have found these to be an extreme
inhibitor to operating system security patching, and a major overhead to
a customer's change management processes, further adding to ongoing
compliance costs."
"The FoxT Enterprise Access Management solution suite has provided
non-kernel intrusive and vendor-neutral application of centralized access
control policies for many years," stated Per Eliasson, Vice-President of
Engineering at FoxT. "Adding Unified Data Access Control management
ensures organizations are able to secure their mission-critical and
sensitive information from the growing threat of insider fraud and
enables them to meet regulatory requirements. Providing a standardized
solution for centralized fine-grained access control, utilizing existing
vendor interfaces, allows a customer to implement consistent file-level
access controls across diverse technical platforms."
