LONDON, April 7 (Reuters) - The euro fell to session lows below $1.33 against the dollar on Tuesday after data showed an unexpected downward revision to fourth quarter euro zone gross domestic product.

The figures showed the economy contracted by 1.6 percent quarter-on-quarter, the deepest ever fall and more than the previously reported 1.5 percent decline. Economists had expected an unrevised reading. [ID:nL798677].

Following the data, the euro hit a session low against the dollar of $1.3282 EUR=. The euro was also under pressure as European stocks fell by 1.1 percent .FTEU3, which boosted safe haven demand for the U.S. dollar.

Sterling GBP= also extended losses after the figures, matching a session low around $1.4641, according to Reuters data. It had traded around $1.4680 before the announcement.
