Free Internet Access Being Offered As Part of Ongoing Property Improvements for
Tenants
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
Some 8,000 East Palo Alto residents living west of Highway 101 will get free
wireless Internet access under a plan announced today by Woodland Park
Management and its parent company, Page Mill Properties.

Page Mill will pay for installation of a beta Wi-Fi system at its Woodland Park
apartments located in East Palo Alto, Calif. Page Mill anticipates expanding the
free broadband access to more East Palo Alto residents on the west side of
Highway 101.

The project comes on the heels of a smaller pilot project that provided Internet
access to 148 residents at two Woodland Park apartment complexes owned by the
investors represented by Page Mill Properties. That installation was part of
Page Mill`s more than $11 million housing rehabilitation program which includes
landscaping and exterior building upgrades as well as the renovation of hundreds
of units with new windows, carpet, laminate wood flooring, dishwashers,
microwave hoods and several other appliances.

"Our initial tenants were very pleased to get free wireless Internet access in
their homes," said David Taran, CEO of Page Mill Properties. "We are excited
about the results of the pilot system and look forward to advancing Internet
connectivity for the rest of our residents."

The project began as a community-based project to provide Internet access to
residents living on the east side of Highway 101 in East Palo Alto. While
Silicon Valley was rapidly expanding its Internet connectivity throughout the
Bay Area, East Palo Alto was left behind.

As part of the program, community members were trained to provide tech support
jobs to help sustain the low-cost wireless network. Woodland Park is excited
about the prospect of promoting the job training program to all its residents as
it helps to support the vision for free Internet access to all of East Palo
Alto.

"In today`s current economic climate we are proud to create jobs, especially in
our own community," Taran said, noting that Page Mill Properties and Woodland
Park Management already employ more than 40 tenants and residents of East Palo
Alto.

Page Mill plans to hold free computer classes to help educate its residents on
how to take advantage of the free broadband access.

In additional support of the East Palo Alto community, Page Mill and Woodland
Park recently renovated and donated a new studio space for the Mural Music &
Arts Project (MMAP), an organization that educates, empowers and inspires youth
through the arts. The new studio space, located at 2043 Euclid Ave., will help
the project offer youth programs to local residents. Page Mill and Woodland Park
are also currently working with Collective Roots, an organization established to
educate and engage youth and communities in food system change through
sustainable programs. In support of the organization, Page Mill and Woodland
Park donated a house, garden and barn to serve as the organization`s Center for
Urban Agriculture.
